The first pick in the CFFL's inaugural draft was RB Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions who went on to have an outstanding year for the Mad Dogs.  He rushed for over 2000 yards and scored 14 touchdowns and was named league MVP.

The four divisions were originally named Capitol, Century, Central and Coastal but were renamed after the team owners who won their respective divisions in Year One.

The Capitol Division became the Hayes Division, the Century Division became the Adams Division, the Central Division became the King Division and the Coastal division became the Volk Division.

SEASON RECAP:
